The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has approved a permit allowing the closure of Cascade Street, from Union Lake Road to Cooley Lake Road on the border of Commerce and White Lake townships, from Sept. 13 to approximately Sept. 20, for the construction of a traffic barrier.
During the closure, residential and business access will be maintained. The detour for through traffic will be Union Lake Road to Cooley Lake Road, back to Cascade Street and vice versa.
Once complete, Union Lake Road traffic will only be able to enter the first several hundred feet of westbound Cascade Street, though Cascade traffic travelling eastbound will be able to enter Union Lake Road. The businesses located at the corner of Union Lake and Cascade, and on Cascade just west of Union Lake, will remain accessible from Union Lake Road.
The measure was requested by residents on Cascade Street who are also funding the work that will be done by Mac Concrete Demolition Inc. of Commerce Township.
