The Road Commission of Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close Flemings Lake and Walters roads between Clarkston and Waldon roads in Independence Township, June 21 through late July, for a road-resurfacing project. The start date of June 14 has been delayed by the contractor.
Access to homes and businesses along Flemings Lake and Walters roads in the construction zones will be maintained throughout the work. The detour route for through traffic is Clarkston Road to Sashabaw Road to Waldon Road and vice versa.
The resurfacing work is funded mainly through an Independence Township road millage. The closure is necessary for the removal of the current pavement, grading/gravel work on the road’s base and paving with asphalt.
The contractor for the project is Cadillac Asphalt of Clarkston. Flemings Lake Road carries approximately 3,650 vehicles daily. Walters Road carries approximately 2,770 vehicles daily.
