The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) plans to begin culvert-replacement and resurfacing work on Mann Road between Clintonville Road and Floretta Street on the Independence Township/Waterford Township border starting Aug. 10.
This section of Mann Road will be closed from Aug. 10 through Aug. 31 for the culvert-replacement portion of the project. After Aug. 31, the road will remain open, but one lane will be closed for the paving operations, and traffic will be directed by flaggers.
During the closure, the detour route for through traffic will be Rattek Road to Genoa Road to Pine Knob Lane to Maybee Road to Clintonville Road and back to Mann Road and vice versa. Rattek and Genoa road and portions of Pine Knob Lane are private roads.
RCOC has attained permission from the residents along the private roads to use them for the detour route and the Road Commission will complete maintenance operations on the detour route prior to the project start. The Road Commission thanks the private-road residents and asks motorists to please be respectful of the private roads and obey the speed limit.
This project will cost approximately $1.13 million and will be paid for by RCOC, Independence Twp., Waterford Twp., and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).
The project includes:
- Removal and replacement of the Sashabaw Creek culvert under this section of Mann Road
- Pulverizing the existing pavement on this section and repaving with four inches of asphalt
- Replacing guardrail in the vicinity of the culvert
- Minor drainage improvements
The contractor for the project is Fessler and Bowman Inc. of Flushing, Mi.
