The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close Cass Lake Road to through traffic between Cass Elizabeth Road and Orchard Lake Road in Waterford Twp. and Keego Harbor starting on Aug. 10 to replace the culvert that carries the road over the Cass Lake/Otter Lake Canal.
The road is expected to re-open in late September.
During the closure, the detour route for through traffic will be Cass Elizabeth Road to Cooley Lake Road to Hiller Road to Commerce Road to Orchard Lake Road and back to Cass Lake Road and vice versa. Access to homes and businesses in the closed section will be maintained north and south of the culvert through the duration of the project.
The project will cost approximately $730,000 and is being funded by RCOC. The contractor for the project is Superior Contracting of Dryden.
The project includes:
- Removal of the existing culvert under Cass Lake Road and replacement with a concrete culvert.
- Replacement of the guardrail in the vicinity of the culvert.
- Removal and replacement of 300 feet of asphalt pavement over and in the vicinity of the culvert.
- Replacement of the storm sewer near the culvert.
