[ARCHIVED] MALONEY STREET BRIDGE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT PROJECT IN OXFORD TOWNSHIP IS EXPECTED TO START JULY 5

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to start the removal and replacement of the Maloney Street bridge between Long Lake and Clear Lake in Oxford Township on Tuesday, July 5.

The initial work for the project will start with staging equipment and the relocation of an underground utility.  The demolition of the current bridge is expected to start on July 17.

During the work, access to homes will be maintained via a single-lane temporary road next to the bridge. Boats and other recreational lake traffic will be unable to cross under the Maloney Street bridge during the work.

Residents should expect construction traffic between Drahner Road and the bridge, on Lakeview and Maloney streets, throughout the work. Drivers and pedestrians should use extra caution throughout the project.

The bridge, waterway and road are expected to reopen approximately Oct. 18 with behind-the-road shoulder restoration work continuing into November.

The $2.54 million project is mostly paid for by federal funds with the remaining dollars coming from the RCOC.

The contractor for the project is F.H. Paschen of Detroit.
