The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has closed the Green Lake Road/Pontiac Trail intersection in West Bloomfield Township until approximately July 19 as part of the ongoing Pontiac Trail resurfacing project.
The closure is needed so the contractor can repave the Pontiac Trail/Green Lake Road intersection and extend the southbound Green Lake Road right-turn lane onto westbound Pontiac Trail.
The detour for Green Lake Road traffic will be Green Lake Road to Richardson Road to Haggerty Road to Maple Road to Drake Road to Walnut Lake Road to Halsted Road to Pontiac Trail and vice versa.
During the closure of the Pontiac Trail and Green Lake Road intersection, access to the Sunrise Senior Living facility, Lakeview Family Dental and residential property will be maintained by taking Haggerty Road to Pontiac Trail (local traffic only, accessing homes or businesses within the closed section can travel on Pontiac Trail from Haggerty going east).
Pontiac Trail remains closed to through traffic between Haggerty and Green Lake roads for the ongoing resurfacing project. The project is expected to be completed in late July.
The $2.5 million Pontiac Trail project is 80 percent federally funded. The remaining cost is shared by RCOC, West Bloomfield Township and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).
The contractor for this project is DiPonio Contracting of Shelby Township.
