The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has issued a permit allowing Waterford Township to close Cass Lake Road just south of Cass Elizabeth Road (near the Otter Lake Canal) for watermain relocation starting April 25.
The work is being done in advance of an RCOC culvert-replacement project expected to start on Aug. 1.
During the closure, access to homes and businesses within this section of Cass Lake Road will be maintained. The full closure is between Port Cove Drive and Bangor Road.
The detour for through traffic is Cass Elizabeth Road to Cooley Lake Road to Hiller Road to Commerce Road to Orchard Lake Road, back to Cass Lake Road and vice versa.
The road is expected to reopen on approximately May 15. This section of Cass Lake Road carries about 16,000 vehicles daily.
