The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) continues efforts to clear tree debris and address gravel road conditions resulting from last weekend’s tornado and storm. Staff plans to work through the weekend on roads in hardest-hit areas.
During work, crews will clear debris from trees that fell onto various public roads. Most of the debris is temporarily located along roadsides after staff initially focused on opening roads.
Staff will focus on the primary (heavier-traveled) roads first, and work their way toward roads that carry less traffic, such as subdivision roads in townships. It will take several weeks to remove all the debris.
Work will take place in hard-hit areas of the county including the Pontiac Lake Road corridor in White Lake Township. Additional weekend work includes grading gravel roads and repairing washouts.
Motorists can expect some delays in work zones and are advised to drive with caution where crews are working along the roads.
As a reminder, crews will not pick up storm debris from private property. Citizens are encouraged to contact their local unit of government for guidance on debris from private property.
