The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has granted a permit extension for the continued closure of 14 Mile Road from M-5 to Decker Road/Novi Road on the Walled Lake/Commerce Twp./Novi border until April 12 for ongoing work on watermain installation by the Great Lakes Water Authority. The road was closed on Jan. 4 and previously rescheduled to open today, Monday, April 5.
The water main installation is at the intersection of Welch Road and 14 Mile Road.
The detour for 14 Mile Road through traffic during the closure is Decker Road to Maple Road to M-5 back to 14 Mile Road and vice versa.
This watermain repair is being done by Major Cement Company of Detroit. This section of 14 Mile Road carries approximately 11,610 vehicles daily.
