[ARCHIVED] CURRIE ROAD, FROM NINE MILE TO TEN MILE ROAD, IN LYON TOWNSHIP EXPECTED TO CLOSE APRIL 12

Traffic Alert Sign

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close Currie Road from Nine Mile to Ten Mile Road in Lyon Township for a gravel road paving project starting approximately April 12 through early October.

During construction, access to homes and properties along this section of Currie Road will be maintained. The detour for through traffic is Ten Mile Road to Napier Road to Nine Mile Road, back to Currie Road and vice versa.

The approximately $2.7 million project is mostly federally funded with the remaining portion shared by RCOC, Lyon Township and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).

            The project includes:

  • Paving the approximate one-mile section of gravel road with asphalt
  • Concrete curbs and gutters
  • Improved drainage
  • New signs and pavement markings

The contractor for the project is Iafrate Construction of Warren. This section of Currie Road carries approximately 1,300 vehicles daily.

Phase two of the project, paving Currie Road from 8 Mile Road to 9 Mile Road, is expected to start in the spring of 2022.
