The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has issued a permit allowing Consumers Energy to close the westbound, outside through lane and right-turn lane on 12 Mile Road at Stephenson Highway on the Royal Oak/Madison Heights border for utility work starting today.
Traffic is shifted to the left lane on 12 Mile Road in the work zone, and motorists will be unable to turn right onto northbound Stephenson Highway from 12 Mile Road during the work.
The detour for westbound 12 Mile Road traffic wishing to travel northbound on Stephenson Highway is 12 Mile Road to Campbell Road to 13 Mile Road to Stephenson Highway.
The work is expected to be completed approximately Feb. 8.
