The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to begin concrete slab replacement work at the intersections of Southfield Road and 14 Mile, on the Beverly Hills/Birmingham border, and Southfield Road and 13 Mile Road on the Beverly Hills/Southfield border on Nov. 2.
The work at the 13 Mile Road/Southfield Road intersection involves only the southbound Southfield Road right-turn lane onto westbound 13 Mile Road.
The work is expected to be completed in late November.
Access to businesses along these sections of Southfield Road, 14 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road will be maintained throughout the project. Motorists should expect delays during peak-traffic periods.
The work will involve removing and replacing failing concrete slabs. There will be lengthy lane closures due to necessary cure times for the new concrete. Once the new concrete meets testing standards, the closed lanes will be sealed and reopened to traffic.
The project is part of RCOC’s larger concrete-slab replacement program and is paid for by RCOC. For more information on the concrete slab replacement program, visit: http://rcocweb.org/419/Concrete-Slab-Replacement
