The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close the east leg of the Dequindre Road/Auburn Road intersection on the Rochester Hills/Shelby Township border from Aug. 12 through early September as part of the ongoing Dequindre Road widening project from Utica Road to Collins Avenue.
During the closure, access to homes and business property along this section of Auburn Road will be maintained. The detour for Auburn Road through traffic is Dequindre Road to Hamlin Road to Ryan Road back to Auburn Road and vice versa.
This section of Dequindre Road carries approximately 18,110 vehicles, while Auburn Road carries approximately 11,800 vehicles.
Anyone interested can watch the progress of the project on the RCOC website (www.rcocweb.org), by clicking on the “Dequindre Road Construction Work Zone Camera” link in the “Helpful Links” section at the bottom of the home page. Site visitors can view photos of the project or a time-lapse series that combines all photos taken in succession. RCOC will produce a compilation of all the photos following the completion of the project.
The Dequindre Road construction project is expected to be completed in late fall.
