The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has installed a work zone camera that is now providing a real-time view of the reconstruction of Baldwin Road between Waldon Road and Maybee Road in Orion Township. The camera takes a photo every 15 minutes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Viewers can watch the progress of the construction on the RCOC website (click on the “Baldwin Road Construction Work Zone Camera” link in the “Helpful Links” section at the bottom of the home page). Site visitors can view photos of the project or a time-lapse series that combines all photos taken in succession. RCOC will also produce a compilation of all the photos following the completion of this phase of the project.
The reconstruction, which includes widening the road, sewer line instillation as well as the completion of pavement and signal work, is a part of the larger project to improve Baldwin Road from Morgan Road to Waldon Road that began in 2017 and has been extended into 2020.
The $50 million project, funded primarily with federal dollars and contributions from Orion Township, RCOC and Oakland County General government (through the Tri-Party program), involves widening and reconstructing Baldwin Road including the construction of five roundabouts.
