[ARCHIVED] WORK ZONE CAMERA ON RCOC WEBSITE PROVIDES VIEW OF CONSTRUCTION OF DEQUINDRE WIDENING PROJECT

Work Zone Camera Located Near North Shack

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has installed a work zone camera that is now providing a real-time view of the project to reconstruct and widen Dequindre Road between Utica Road and Collins Avenue on the Rochester Hills/Shelby Township border. The camera takes a photo every 15 minutes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

To watch the progress of the constructions on the RCOC website (www.rcocweb.org), click on the “Dequindre Road Construction Work Zone Camera” link in the “Helpful Links” section at the bottom of the home page. Site visitors can view photos of the project or a time-lapse series that combines all photos taken in succession. RCOC will produce a compilation of all the photos following the completion of the project.

The project started on May 18 and is expected to be fully open to traffic in late fall.

The project involves widening the road to five lanes, new concrete curbs and traffic signals, improved drainage and storm sewers and updated pedestrian crosswalks. It is expected to cost approximately $9.3 million. Eighty percent of the cost will be paid for with federal dollars. The remainder will be shared by RCOC, the Macomb County Department of Roads, the City of Rochester Hills and Shelby Township.
