The Road Commission of Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close Grass Lake Road between Ormond and Steeple Hill roads in White Lake Township on Monday, May 4, for a gravel road paving project.
During the closure, access to residential property will be maintained.
The detour for through traffic is Ormond Road to Highland Road (M-59) to Hill Road, back to Grass Lake Road and vice versa.
The approximately $3 million project is funded by RCOC and White Lake Township. The township’s portion is funded through a state grant.
The project includes:
- Asphalt paving
- Improved drainage and road alignment
- Concrete curb and gutter
- New signage
The contractor for the project is Dan’s Excavating of Shelby Township. The road is expected to reopen to traffic in early October.
As a reminder, RCOC has taken a number of steps to protect employees from coming into contact with people who may be infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19). This includes continuing to ask the public to
contact the agency remotely and to refrain from talking with Road Commission workers and contractors in person, including when they are working on or near the roads.
