[ARCHIVED] ROAD COMMISSION FOR OAKLAND COUNTY CLOSES BUILDINGS TO PUBLIC

Still working COVID-19 piece on how to contact the RCOC remotely

In light of concern about the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) announced today (Tuesday, March 17) that it has closed all of its buildings to the public, including the lobby areas.

“We continue to closely monitor the recommendations of made by county, state and national health officials,” stated RCOC Managing Director Dennis Kolar. “We believe that this move is in the best interest of the safety of both our employees and the public.”

This includes the public lobby at the Road Commission’s administrative building at 31001 Lahser Road in Beverly Hills as well as RCOC’s Department of Customer Services and Permits lobbies at its Paul Van Roekel Service Center at 2420 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford Township as well as the additional five garage facilities. All are closed to the public until further notice.

RCOC reminds the public that the Road Commission can be contacted via a number of means:

- Online at www.rcocweb.org

- By telephone at 877-858-4804 (Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.to 4:15 p.m.)

- Via e-mail at dcsmail@rcoc.org

- Via fax at 248-338-0675

Kolar also reminded residents that if they have a question or concern about a road or road maintenance, they can either fill out an online form (visit the website, www.rcocweb.org and click the “Report an Issue” button at the center top of the homepage), call the agency toll-free at 877-858-4804 or send an e-mail to dcsmail@rcoc.org.

Anyone can also follow the Road Commission’s social media platforms for ongoing information as well (Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RoadComm/?ref=mf; Twitter: https://twitter.com/oaklandroads; or Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oaklandroadsmi/).

Permit applications and other RCOC forms can be submitted at the Road Commission website (www.rcocweb.org) and plans related to permit applications can be sent to permits@rcoc.org. The Road Commission will now issue permits via e-mail instead of requiring in-person pick up. If other arrangements are needed, call 248-858-4835.

The March 19 RCOC Board meeting will proceed as scheduled at 9 a.m. at the Beverly Hills location. Members of the public will be allowed in through the main lobby for the meeting.

Members of the public wishing to participate in the annual gravel-road chloride program will be able to mail in their applications and checks this year. To request an application, anyone interested should call (877-858-4804) or e-mail (dcsmail@rcoc.org).
