RCOC RECEIVES $30,000 SEMCOG GRANT TO ENHANCE
STORM SEWER COLLECTION DATA EFFORTS
Beverly Hills, MI— The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has received a $30,000 grant from the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) to enhance data related to storm sewers along RCOC roads throughout Oakland County.
Over the past five years, RCOC has collected data on more than 35,000 storm sewer collection points throughout Oakland County to comply with federal stormwater requirements. The grant dollars will be used to convert the data into a format that can be used by SEMCOG while RCOC continues to collect information on approximately 15,000 additional storm sewer collection points.
Additionally, the grant dollars will be used to digitize as-built road-construction plans. Digitizing the plans will provide a quick method to access information about storm sewers that were installed as part of past road-construction projects.
The information collected as part of this grant effort will provide a foundation for enhancing infrastructure coordination and developing an underground-infrastructure needs assessment complementary to the region’s asset-management program.
