The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will close Cooley Lake Road between Union Lake and Round Lake roads (between Charbane and Barns streets) in Commerce and White Lake townships beginning Wednesday, Aug. 14, through Thursday, Aug. 15, to remove and replace two culverts under the road.
The road is expected to be reopened to traffic by the end of the day on Aug. 15. In the case of inclement weather, the closure will take place on Aug. 15 and 16.
During the work, residential and business access will be maintained along Cooley Lake Road.
The detour for through traffic is Union Lake Road to Hutchins Street to Round Lake Road to Cedar Island Road to Oxbow Lake Road to Bogie Lake Road to Wise Road to Union Lake Road and back to Cooley Lake Road and vice versa.
As a reminder, the Cooley Lake and Carroll Lake Road intersection remains closed to all traffic for roundabout construction.
This section of Cooley Lake Road carries approximately 6,440 vehicles per day.
