RECONSTRUCTION OF CENTRAL DRIVE IN ORION TOWNSHIP TO BEGIN JULY 29
Beverly Hills, MI — The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with Orion Township, expects to begin reconstruction of Central Drive from Indianwood Road to the Lake Orion Village limits on Monday, July 29.
Construction is expected to be completed by the middle of September, with behind the curb work being completed by June 1, 2020.
The project includes:
Pulverizing the existing road surface to serve as a base for new pavement
Application of four inches of new asphalt
Some guardrail replacement
Minor drainage improvements
During construction, traffic will be maintained on Central Drive, with one lane open in each direction.
The cost of the approximately $548,000 construction project will be paid for with $363,000 from an Orion Township-administered special property-tax assessment district (SAD) and $185,000 shared evenly by the township, RCOC and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).
The project design and construction management services will be provided by RCOC. The prime contractor for this project is Asphalt Specialists Inc., of Pontiac.
