[ARCHIVED] CAMERA PROVIDES ONLINE VIEW OF MAPLE/MIDDLEBELT CULVERT REPLACEMENT & ROUNDABOUT PROJECT

Maple Middlebelt Culvert in Progress

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has installed a work zone camera that is now providing a real-time view of the ongoing project to replace a culvert under Maple Road just east of Middlebelt Road in West Bloomfield Township. The camera will also show the construction of a roundabout at the Maple/Middlebelt intersection, which will start when the culvert replacement is complete in September.

The camera takes a photo every 15 minutes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Viewers can watch the progress of the construction on the RCOC website (www.rcocweb.org -- click on the “Maple/Middlebelt Road Culvert & Roundabout Construction Work Zone Camera” link in the “Helpful Links” section at the bottom of the home page). Site visitors can view photos of the project or a time-lapse series that combines all photos taken in succession. RCOC will produce a compilation of all photos following the completion of the project.

The project, including replacement of the culvert and construction of the roundabout, will be completed in the late fall. Maple Road is closed between Middlebelt and Inkster during the culvert replacement, and the Maple/Middlebelt intersection will be closed during the roundabout construction.

The approximately $6.6 million safety-improvement project is funded with a mix of federal and local dollars. Local funding is shared by RCOC, West Bloomfield Township and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).
