10 MILE ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

IN SOUTHFIELD EXPECTED TO START JULY 15

Beverly Hills, MI — The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with the City of Southfield, expects to begin construction on 10 Mile Road, from Evergreen Road to Greenfield Road, on July 15.

Construction is expected to be completed in late fall.

The project includes:

Removal and replacement of failed concrete slabs

Some curb and gutter replacement

Upgrades to pedestrian crosswalks to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Upgrades to some bus stops

During construction, traffic will be maintained on 10 Mile Road, with one lane open in each direction. Lanes will be shifted during the project to accommodate construction.

The Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) will remove and shift current bus stops for the duration of the project as the construction crew moves through the project. Once completed, SMART will reinstall all bus stops along 10 Mile Road.

Access to properties along 10 Mile Road will maintained at all times during the project, though there will be temporary side-street and driveway closures to facilitate concrete placement.

The cost of the approximately $3.2 million construction project will be split between RCOC, Southfield and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program). The prime contractor for this project is Mark Anthony Contracting Inc. of Milford.
