PREVENTATIVE MAINTENACE TO START JUNE 17 ON ADAMS RD BRIDGES
OVER TROUT AND PAINT CREEKS NORTH OF GUNN ROAD
Beverly Hills, MI — The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will begin preventative maintenance on two bridges on Adams Road just north of Gunn Road in Oakland Township on Monday, June 17.
This project will involve bridge approach improvements, epoxy overlay of the bridge decks, asphalt paving, joint sealing and guardrail repairs.
The work is being done in conjunction with the Adams Road/Gunn Road intersection closure for roundabout construction that will also begin on Monday, June 17.
During the bridge work, residential traffic will be maintained on Adams Road north of Gunn Road. The Adams/Gunn intersection will be completely closed to traffic.
The through-traffic detour for Adams Road traffic is Orion Road to Silverbell Road, back to Adams Road and vice versa.
The bridge work is expected to be complete in late August, the same time the Adams/Gunn roundabout will open traffic.
This project is part of the larger RCOC asset management program. Asset management is an approach intended to extend the longevity of the road and bridge system by applying the most-cost-effective maintenance techniques at each stage in the infrastructure lifecycle.
In addition to the bridges on Adams Road, preventative maintenance is planned for the 8 Mile Road bridge between Middlebelt Road and Grand River Avenue (over the Rouge River) on the border of Farmington and Livonia, also beginning June 17. The three bridge projects were bid together. Total cost of the three bridge projects is $850,000, which will be paid for by RCOC.
The contractor for the bridge preventative maintenance is Florence Cement Company of Shelby Township.
