UPDATE: LIVERNOIS RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT IN ROCHESTER HILLS
EXPECTED TO START JUNE 21
Beverly Hills, MI – The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with the City of Rochester Hills, expects to begin reconstruction on Livernois Road, from Avon Road to just north of Walton Road, on June 21, which will involve the closure of southbound Livernois.
The prime contractor for the project, Pro-Line Asphalt, delayed the start to make sure adequate signage was placed for the project. The original start date was June 19.
Construction is expected to be completed in late November.
Last year, RCOC performed heavy maintenance work on this section of Livernois Road to keep the road drivable until the 2019 reconstruction.
This approximately $5.6 million reconstruction project is funded with a mix of federal and local dollars. Local funding is shared by RCOC, Rochester Hills and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).
The project includes:
- Removal of existing concrete
- Replacing curbs and gutters
- Paving with asphalt
- Construction of Americans with Disability Act (ADA)-compliant crosswalks
- Modernization of traffic signals
- Upgrading guardrail
- Repairing retaining walls
During reconstruction, Livernois Road will close to southbound traffic, but remain open for northbound traffic.
The detour for southbound traffic will be Tienken Road to Adams Road to Avon Road, back to Livernois.
Access will be maintained to all businesses in the area during the project.
