The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will close lanes on 8 Mile Road between Middlebelt Road and Grand River Avenue on the Farmington Hills/Livonia border on June 17 for preventative maintenance work on the bridge over the Rouge River.
This project will involve an epoxy overlay of the bridge deck followed by asphalt paving, joint sealing and guardrail repairs.
Two-way traffic will be maintained during the project with lane closures for construction work.
This project is part of the larger RCOC asset management program. Asset management is an approach intended to extend the longevity of the road and bridge system by applying the most-cost-effective means at each stage in the infrastructure lifecycle.
In addition to the 8 Mile Road bridge, preventative maintenance is planned for two bridges on Adams Road in Oakland Twp. this year. The total cost of the three projects is $850,000, which will be paid for by RCOC.
