The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects weekend closures of Square Lake Road at John R Road and South Blvd. at John R Road in the communities of Troy and Rochester Hills during the month of June as part of the ongoing John R widening project from Long Lake to South Boulevard.
The closures are necessary for storm-sewer installation under the roads. The work is being done during the weekends to minimize traffic impacts.
The scheduled closures are weather-dependent and could change. They are tentatively scheduled for:
Friday, June 7, through Sunday, June 9
Square Lake Road east approach to John R (westbound traffic only) will close at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 7, and re-open to traffic on Sunday, June 9, at approximately 8 p.m. The detour route for westbound Square Lake traffic is Square Lake Road to Rochester Road to Long Lake Road to Dequindre Road, back to Square Lake Road. Square Lake Road is under the jurisdiction of the City of Troy.
Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16
South Blvd east approach to John R (westbound traffic only) will close at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14, and re-open to traffic on Sunday, June 16, at approximately 8 p.m. The detour route is South Blvd to Rochester Road to Long Lake Road to Dequindre Road, back to South Blvd.
Northbound John R from Long Lake Road to South Blvd will remain open to traffic during the closures. Southbound John R remains closed to traffic.
The contractor for the project is Dan’s Excavating of Shelby Township.
