RCOC TO HOST PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING MAY 2 FOR LIVERNOIS RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT IN ROCHESTER HILLS
Beverly Hills, MI – The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will host a public information meeting on Thursday, May 2, about the reconstruction this year of Livernois Road from Avon to just north of Walton in the City of Rochester Hills.
The meeting is from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at Rochester Hills City Hall, 1000 Rochester Drive (on the south side of Avon Road between Livernois and Old Perch roads). The meeting with be an open-house format -- there will be no formal presentations. RCOC staff will be present to answer questions throughout the meeting.
Construction is expected to start at the end of the school year in June and be completed in the fall.
The approximately $5.6 million reconstruction project is funded with a mix of federal and local dollars. Local funding is shared by RCOC, Rochester Hills and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).
The project includes:
- Removal of existing concrete
- Replacing curbs and gutters
- Paving with asphalt
- Construction of Americans with Disability Act (ADA)-compliant crosswalks
- Modernization of traffic signals
- Upgrading guardrail
- Repairing retaining walls
During construction, Livernois will close to southbound traffic, but remain open for northbound traffic. The detour for southbound traffic will be Tienken Road to Adams Road to Avon Road, back to Livernois.
Last year, RCOC performed heavy maintenance work on this section of Livernois to keep the road drivable until the 2019 reconstruction.
