The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to restart construction on Walton Blvd. between Squirrel and Adams roads in Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills on Monday, March 25.
The contractor, Z Contractors of Shelby Township, will begin preparation work for median restoration and resurfacing work on Walton Blvd. which will require single lane closures in each direction. Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the project. All side street and driveway access will be maintained.
The approximately $6.9 million project is funded mostly by RCOC with additional funding from the City of Auburn Hills.
During 2018, the contractor removed and replaced three metal culverts under the road with concrete “box” culverts. Remaining work includes:
- Milling/resurfacing Walton Blvd. from Squirrel to Adams, including the Walton Blvd. and Squirrel Road intersection
- Placement of concrete curbs and gutters
- Placement of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalks and crosswalks
