[ARCHIVED] COURT TOWER SOUTH BLVD. CONSTRUCTION TO START ON MAY 31; ROAD WILL CLOSE TO TRAFFIC

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will close Court Tower Boulevard South between County Center Drive East and Hospital Drive in the City of Pontiac to through traffic for a road reconstruction beginning approximately May 31, 2016.

Court Tower Boulevard South mainly services the Oakland County General Government offices at the 1200 Telegraph building which houses the Oakland County Commission, Circuit Court, Treasurer, and Clerk/Register of Deeds among other county departments.

The detour for the closure will be Hospital Drive to County Center Drive East back to Court Tower Boulevard South and vice versa.

During the closure, the south parking lot will remain open; however, pedestrian traffic will be routed around road construction activities. The north parking lot will remain open and has direct access to the 1200 Telegraph building.

Individuals seeking special parking accommodations are advised to use the north parking lot, north of the complex. Handicapped-accessible parking spaces will also be available in the north lot.

The almost $1.2 million project is mostly funded by Oakland County general government with RCOC providing $58,725.

The project includes:
• Reducing the road from four lanes to three, with a continuous center left-turn lane
• Complete reconstruction
• Concrete curbs and gutters
• Improved drainage
• Americans with Disabilities (ADA)-compliant crosswalks with improved visibility
• Asphalt surface
• Improved public lighting funded by Oakland County general government

The contractor for the project is Dan’s Excavating of Shelby Township. The road is expected to reopen in late August.
