The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will begin a construction project on South Blvd from Adams Road to Crooks Road on the Troy/Rochester Hills border on June 20.
The approximately $2.4 million project is funded by Troy, Rochester Hills, Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program) and RCOC.
The project includes:
Partial reconstruction of South Blvd.
Culvert replacement just west of Coolidge Road (will require a road closure)
Milling and resurfacing with asphalt
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalks and pedestrian signals
During construction, there will be a short-term closure, approximately five days, of South Blvd. just west of Coolidge Road for the Borden Drain culvert placement. Once the culvert replacement is complete, the eastbound lanes of South Blvd. from Adams to Coolidge Road will remain closed for reconstruction; westbound South Blvd. will remain open to traffic. Dates for the closure will be announced.
The detour for the culvert replacement and eastbound traffic closures will be South Blvd. to Squirrel Road to Square Lake Road to Crooks Road, back to South Blvd and vice versa.
The contractor for the project is Pro-line Asphalt of Washington Twp. The South Blvd. work is expected to conclude approximately mid-September. For more information on the South Blvd project, visit: http://www.rcocweb.org/442/South-Boulevard.
