The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has issued a permit allowing Heritage Construction L.L.C., on behalf of the Waterford School District, to close Walton Blvd. from Dill Drive to Frankman Avenue in Waterford Township from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, June 18, to remove a pedestrian bridge. The work is between Sashabaw and Clintonville roads.
Waterford Police will have officers directing traffic for the detour during the four-hour closure.
The detour for through traffic on Walton Blvd. is Sashabaw Road to Maybee Road to Clintonville Road to Lake Angelus Road, back to Walton Blvd. and vice versa.
The bridge will be kept intact and transported for improvements including sanding and repainting before it is reinstalled in August.
This phase of the project is expected to conclude by 2 p.m. on June 18. A similar closure will be needed in August to replace the bridge once improvements have been completed.
This section of Walton Blvd. carries approximately 18,000 vehicles per day.
