[ARCHIVED] WORKZONE CAMERA TO PROVIDE PUBLIC VIEW OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE BALDWIN ROAD

DSC_0074

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has installed a work zone camera that is now providing a real-time view of the reconstruction of Baldwin Road between Morgan and Gregory roads in Orion Township including the construction of a roundabout at the Baldwin Road/Judah Road intersection. The camera takes a photo every 15 minutes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Viewers can watch the progress of the construction on the RCOC website (click on the “Baldwin Road Construction Work Zone Camera” link in the “Helpful Links” section at the bottom of the home page). Site visitors can view photos of the project or a time-lapse series that combines all photos taken in succession. RCOC will produce a compilation of all photos following the completion of this phase of the project.

The intersection reconstruction, which includes reducing a hill, is part of the larger project to improve Baldwin Road from Morgan Road to Waldon Road that began in 2017 and is expected to run through 2019.

The project involves widening this section of Baldwin Road and constructing five roundabouts. The first two roundabouts will be constructed at the Baldwin/Judah and Baldwin/Gregory intersections in 2018.   Additional roundabouts will be built at Baldwin/Waldon, Baldwin/Maybee and Baldwin/Great Lakes Athletic Club in 2019.

The $43 million project is funded primarily with federal dollars and contributions from Orion Township, RCOC and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party program).
