The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will host a public information meeting on Tuesday, May 22, about the upcoming construction project on South Blvd from Adams Road to Crooks Road in the communities of Troy and Rochester Hills
The meeting is from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Deerfield Elementary School, 3600 Crooks Road, Rochester Hills. It will be an open-house format -- there will be no formal presentations. RCOC staff will be present to answer questions throughout the public meeting.
During the meeting, plans for Adams Road construction between Square Lake Road and South Blvd. in the communities of Troy and Bloomfield Township will also be available. The Adams Road project will also take place this year,
The approximately $2.4 million South Blvd. project is funded by Troy, Rochester Hills, Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program) and RCOC.
The South Blvd. project includes:
- Partial reconstruction of South Blvd.
- Culvert replacement just west of Coolidge Road (will require a road closure)
- Milling and resurfacing with asphalt
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks and pedestrian signals
During construction, there will be a short-term closure of South Blvd. just west of Coolidge Road for the Borden Drain culvert placement. Once the culvert replacement is complete, the westbound lanes of South Blvd. from Adams to Coolidge Road will be closed for reconstruction; eastbound South Blvd. will remain open to traffic.
The detour for the full and westbound traffic closures is South Blvd. to Squirrel Road to Square Lake Road to Crooks Road, back to South Blvd and vice versa. Dates for the closures will be announced.
The South Blvd. work is expected to begin in June and conclude mid-September. For more information on the South Blvd project, visit: http://www.rcocweb.org/442/South-Boulevard
