The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce and Orion Township, will conduct an informational meeting about the impending widening of Baldwin Road between Morgan Waldon, specifically for area businesses, on Thursday, May 25, at 8 a.m.
The meeting will take place at the Orion Center, 1335 Joslyn Road, Orion Township, MI 48360. RCOC Board Chairman Eric Wilson will speak at the meeting, discussing the project and answering questions.
The project will take place in two phases. Phase I is scheduled to start in July this year and be completed in November 2018. It includes the section of Baldwin between Morgan and Gregory, and will include reconstructing the road as a wide-median four-lane boulevard between Morgan and Judah and a five-lane road between Judah and Gregory as well as the addition of roundabouts at the Judah and at Gregory intersections.
Phase II is scheduled to start in late 2018 and be completed in 2019. Phase II will include construction of a narrow-median four-lane boulevard from Gregory to Maybee, a wide-median four-lane boulevard between Maybee and Waldon and the construction of three roundabouts at the intersections of Waldon, Maybe and the Great Lakes Athletic Club.
The $43 million project cost will be paid for with federal funds and contributions from Orion Township, RCOC and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party program).

A meeting for the general public will take place in June. More information will be released once that meeting has been finalized.
