The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with Rochester Hills and Oakland Township, will host a public information meeting Tuesday, Nov. 1, about the planned 2023 replacement of the Dutton Road bridge over the Paint Creek, between the north and south Livernois Road intersections, on the Rochester Hills/Oakland Township border.
The meeting is from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Rochester Adams High School, 3200 West Tienken Road, in Rochester Hills. The meeting will be open-house format -- there will be no formal presentations. RCOC staff will be present to answer questions throughout the meeting.
The approximately $2.6 million project will be paid for mostly with federal funds with matching dollars from Rochester Hills and RCOC.
The project includes:
- Bridge removal and replacement with a wider bridge to accommodate pedestrians and environmental considerations.
- Asphalt paving over the vicinity of the bridge.
- Shoulder paving to accommodate traffic utilizing the Paint Creek Trail parking lot.
- Installation of curbs and gutters.
- New guardrail.
Utility relocation is expected to occur during the winter and spring of 2023. Construction is expected to start in July 2023, with Dutton Road closing between the Livernois Road intersections. The project will conclude in the late fall of 2023.
Access to homes within the construction zone will be maintained during work. Paint Creek Trail access will remain open except for a two-day closure in the fall, with dates to be announced.
The proposed detour for through traffic throughout the project is Brewster Road to Tienken Road to Rochester Road to Orion Road, back to Dutton Road and vice versa.
Anyone wishing to attend the meeting who requires special accommodations in accordance with the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or Title VI, including those requiring language assistance, should call RCOC at 248-645-2000 and ask to be directed to the RCOC Engineering Department to submit your request. The Road Commission will provide such services free of charge, with reasonable advanced notice.
