The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has closed White Lake Road, north of Andersonville Road in Independence Township, for storm-sewer repairs. The work is just north of Clawson Tank Drive. The road is now expected to reopen on or before the evening of Saturday, Sept. 24.
The road was supposed to reopen today, Sept. 23; however, the storm-sewer repair will require some additional work.
During the work, access to homes and businesses is maintained. The detour for through traffic is Andersonville Road to Dixie Highway, back to White Lake Road and vice versa.
The road is still expected to close again on Monday, Sept. 26, for pavement restoration and will reopen on or before the evening on the same day. The road surface restoration work is weather-dependent, and the date could change.
The work is being done by HMC of Sterling Heights. This section of White Lake Road carries approximately 19,760 vehicles per day.
