Consumers Energy has delayed its previously announced plans to close the Long Lake Road/Middlebelt Road intersection in West Bloomfield Township for gas utility repair work from Saturday, Aug. 27, until Saturday, Sept. 10, due to logistical issues.
The closure is being done under a permit issued by the Road Commission for Oakland (RCOC) and is expected to last for two weeks, reopening on approximately Sept. 24.
The Middlebelt Road traffic detour is Lone Pine Road to Orchard Lake Road, back to Middlebelt Road and vice versa.
The Long Lake Road traffic detour is Orchard Lake Road to Lone Pine Road to Telegraph Road, back to Long Lake Road and vice versa.
The Long Lake Road/Middlebelt Road intersection carries approximately 30,000 vehicles daily.
Residents are advised to contact Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050 to report the smell of natural gas.
