The positions require a Michigan commercial driver’s license with an air-brake endorsement (CDL-A).
The minimum probationary wage for the position is $20.60 per hour with the potential to increase during probation, depending on the daily work assignment. The hourly rate increases to $25.71 per hour after completion of the probationary period.
“These are the front-line workers who handle the day-to-day maintenance necessary to keep our roads open and in good shape,” RCOC Managing Director Dennis Kolar stated. “This is truly a great way to be a vital part of your community and to make a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of your neighbors every day. We are staffing and planning now for the seasonal needs ahead of us.”
Among other things, the positions come with a full benefit package that includes health insurance, employer-funded dental and life insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, a tuition reimbursement program and a retirement plan for vested employees.
Anyone applying for this position must have a CDL A, a high school diploma or GED equivalent, be prepared to accept placement at any of the six RCOC garage locations in Oakland County (Milford Township, Springfield Township, Orion Township, Waterford Township, Southfield and Troy) as well as be willing to put in their fair share of overtime.
Examples of some of the work the employees in this position perform include:
