10 Mile Road, Meadowbrook to Haggerty Road (2022-23)

PROJECT LIMITS:  Meadowbrook Road to Haggerty Road

COMMUNITY:  City of Novi

FUNDING:  The estimated $6.9 million project is mostly paid for with federal road funding. The remaining costs are split by Road Commission for Oakland County, City of Novi and Oakland County general government through the Tri-Party Program.  

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 

PHASE I CONSTRUCTION (2022):

  • Removal and replacement of two culverts under the road
  • Tree removal (starting in February or March of 2022)
  • Watermain replacements

PHASE II CONSTRUCTION (2023)

  • Milling (grinding off) the existing road surface
  • Repaving with asphalt and concrete (depending on section of road) 
  • Repairing pavement at the Haggerty/10 Mile Road intersection 
  • Implementing safety improvements including a continuous center, left-turn lane, adding and extending selected right-turn and deceleration lanes; and widening the road shoulders
  • Repairing and replacing curbs and gutters 
  • Upgrading pedestrian crosswalks to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (2023)
  • Upgrading traffic signals at 10 Mile/Meadowbrook and 10 Mile/Cranbrook intersections (2023)

PHASE I (2022) PROJECT START: TBA

2022 END TIMEFRAME: November, TBA

ROAD CLOSURE:  Yes, road expected to close in the summer of 2022 (date TBA) for culvert removals and replacements.  Access to residential and business properties maintained.

DETOUR FOR THROUGH TRAFFIC:  Meadownbrook Road to Grand River Avenue to Haggerty Road back to 10 Mile Road and vice versa.  

PHASE II (2023) PROJECT START:  Spring, TBA

COMPLETION:  Fall 2023, TBA

ROAD CLOSURE:  Yes.  Road will close to through traffic with eastbound 10 Mile Road lanes remaining open.  Access residential and business properties maintained.  

DETOUR:  The detour for westbound 10 Mile Road traffic is Haggerty Road to Grand River Avenue to Novi Road, back to 10 Mile Road
