Walton Blvd.

Project limits:  Dixie Highway to just east of Sashabaw Road

Community:  Waterford Township

Project cost:  The approximate $2.7 million project is mostly funded with federal funds with match funds from the R.C.O.C., Waterford Township and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program). 

Project includes:

  • Complete removal of current road
  • Paving with asphalt
  • Upgraded traffic signals and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant crosswalks
  • Spot curb and gutter work
  • Drainage improvements
  • New signage and pavement markings

Project completion:  Early fall

Road closure:  Yes. During the first stage of the project, Walton Boulevard from Dixie Highway to Floradale Road will close for approximately two weeks starting approximately April 19 through April 26 April 27 May 3 for pavement removal and replacement. Detour:  Dixie Hwy. to Maybee Road to Sashabaw Road, back to Walton Blvd. and vice versa.

Once Walton Blvd opens from DIxie Highway to Floradale on May 3, two-way traffic will be maintained will be for the duration of the project.  Pedestrian, residential and business access will be maintained. 

The north leg of the Sashabaw/Walton Blvd intersection will close at a future date. The detour for this closure will be Maybee Road to Dixie Highway to Sashabaw Road, back to Walton Boulevard.
