The contractor for the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) today (Friday, Aug. 21) opened one lane of the new roundabouts at the intersections of Baldwin and Waldon roads and Baldwin and Maybee roads in Orion Township.
The roundabouts, part of the larger widening project on Baldwin between Morgan and Waldon roads, had been open for north/south traffic, but closed for east/west traffic as the contractor – Dan’s Excavating of Shelby Township, completed work on the roadway (driving) portions of the roundabouts.
Landscaping and right of way restoration work continues on the roundabouts, requiring the continued closure of the inside lane of each roundabout, but motorists can now use the roundabouts to turn left from north and southbound Baldwin onto both Maybee and Waldon roads or to travel east/west on Waldon and Maybee roads through the intersections. The roundabouts are expected to be fully open in the fall.
