Project  Description

Project limits:   14 Mile Road to Maple Road 

Communities:  Bloomfield Township and City of Birmingham

Project funding:  The $1.396 million dollar project is funded by the R.C.O.C., City of Birmingham, Bloomfield Township and Tri-Party funding through Oakland County.  Additionally, Birmingham Schools is contributing to the Midvale traffic signal.  

Project information:

  • 1.2 miles of road will be resurfaced with asphalt
  • Concrete curbs and gutters
  • Americans with Disability Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalks ramp improvements
  • Pavement markings
  • Traffic signal modernization
  • Safety improvements that include reconstructing the section between Lincoln and Maple roads as a three-lane road with a continuous center left-turn lane and three-foot-wide paved shoulders
  • Work on Maple Road from Cranbrook Road to Glengarry Road 

Contractor: Pro-Line Asphalt

Start Date: June 14, with a lane closure. The road is expected to close to through traffic beginning June 17. CLICK HERE

End Date: Late August OPEN TO TRAFFIC ON AUG. 28

Road Closure: Yes. Residential, business and school access maintained.


  • The Cranbrook Road detour for through traffic is 14 Mile Road to Lahser Road to Maple Road, back to Cranbrook/Covington Road and vice versa.
  • Additionally, the detour for Lincoln Road traffic is Southfield Road to Maple Road and vice versa.
  • Maple Road will remain open to through traffic with lane restrictions from Cranbrook to Glengarry Road when necessary.
