Project description: This project will reconstruct and widen this section of Dequindre Road from two lanes to five lanes.
Project limits: West Utica Road to Collins Avenue (north of Auburn Road)
Communities: On the Rochester Hills/Shelby Township border
Estimated project cost and funding sources: The project is expected to cost approximately $9.3 million. Eighty percent of the cost will be paid for with federal funds. The remainder is being shared by Road Commission for Oakland County, the Macomb Department of Roads, the City of Rochester Hills and Shelby Township.
Widen road from two lanes to five lanes. This will include two through lanes in each direction as well as a continuous center left-turn lane and right-turn lanes at major intersections.
The project also includes new concrete curbs and gutters, traffic signals and storm sewers.
Pedestrian crosswalks will be upgraded to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
The project will provide increased traffic capacity, improved safety and greater accessibility for pedestrians and non-motorized users.
Project start: May 18
Project completion: November 13, open to traffic (further behind the curb restoration to take place in 2021)

Detour 1 -- Detour route for fully closing Auburn Road at the east side of Dequindre: Ryan Road to Hamlin Road to John R Road and back to Dequindre and vice versa. Schedule: Wednesday, August 12 through late September.
Detour 2 -- Detour route for closing westbound Auburn Road west of Dequindre (eastbound Auburn will remain open to traffic during this closure ): Dequindre Road to Hamlin Road to John R Road and back to Auburn Road. Schedule beginning Sept. 24 through approximately Oct. 21.
Detour 3 -- Detour for the full closure of Dequindre Road north of the Auburn intersection (from Auburn to Collins): Auburn Road to John R Road to Hamlin Road, back to Dequindre Road and vice versa. Auburn Road to Ryan Road to Hamlin Road, back to Dequindre Road and vice versa. Expected to start Oct. 20 21 through early November.
Additional Information: One lane in each direction will remain open for the majority of the project. However, the Dequindre Road/Auburn Road intersection will be partially closed for a short time. Also, Dequindre Road just north of Auburn Road will be closed for a period of time (dates not yet determined). Access to all homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
